Bare Elements Balcony: Quiet Clarity

Terrace • Ashjar E1, Ashjar, Al Barari, Dubai, UAE
The existing rug and coffee table are removed. New low-profile, modular furniture now defines the outdoor space. Old planting is simplified to a single, sculptural olive tree, creating visual calm. All non-essential items are relocated, keeping surfaces clear. Honed concrete pavers form a continuous, light-toned floor. Powder-coated aluminum frames provide sleek, thin profiles for seating. Unbleached linen cushions offer subtle natural texture. Discreet linear LED lighting integrates into the overhead pergola.
The design directs focus to nature and architecture.
Design Philosophy
This design applies a Minimalist Framework. It uses Negative Space Composition to define the area. Superfluous details are removed. Architectural forms and nature become the primary focus.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first travels to the expansive urban view. You walk across the seamless concrete floor. Low-profile furniture invites quiet contemplation.
Light Study
Morning light bathes the balcony, casting long, sharp shadows. Evening brings soft, linear LED illumination from the pergola. This creates a focused glow for late hours.
Living Vignette
A hand rests on the cool aluminum frame. The gaze traces the city horizon.
Material Palette
Honed concrete pavers: Smooth and cool underfoot, it gains a subtle patina with age. Powder-coated aluminum: It feels sleek and modern, resisting corrosion without degradation. Unbleached linen fabric: Soft to the touch, it develops a relaxed drape over time.
