A deeply textured plaster wall in the alcove repeats its pattern subtly in lighter textiles. Furniture scales vary, from oversized armchairs to a sprawling sectional, creating varied densities.

Design Philosophy
This design orchestrates a deliberate journey through the space. Each step reveals new tactile or visual elements, gradually altering the sense of closeness or openness. The sequential addition of details ensures the room feels continuously unfolding, not a collection of parts. It actively employs the frameworks of Compression and Release.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye follows the continuous dark oak bench from the entrance. You walk past the compressed reading alcove, feeling the shift in wall color. You settle into the expansive main seating area, anchored by the large rug.
Light Study
Morning light floods the window wall from the east, creating bright, open areas. Evening brings focused, directional light to intimate corners from recessed fixtures. Diffused ambient lighting from the pendant softens the main lounge after dusk.
Living Vignette
A reader leans back in an oversized armchair, book in hand, bathed in concentrated light. Across the room, two people discuss plans spread across the low sectional, ambient light gently illuminating their faces.
Material Palette
Ribbed plaster: It feels cool and textured, developing a subtle patina over time.
