Design Philosophy
This space uses Perceptual Play to disrupt expectations. Juxtaposed Scales redefine common objects and boundaries. An oversized archway and undersized chairs force new visual logic. The design questions spatial norms and conventional function.
Spatial Narrative
The eye is first drawn to the imposing archway at the entrance. Your gaze then shifts to the reflective dining table and the dramatic mirror wall. You might sit on a standard chair or find yourself in a surprisingly small one at the table.
Light Study
Morning light enters from the open plan, highlighting the dining area and mirror wall. By evening, the single pin light creates vast, dramatic shadows of the central planter. The black granite table reflects any ambient light, appearing as a dark void.
Living Vignette
A guest tries to pull out a scaled-down dining chair, finding its size unexpected. Shadows from the central planter stretch dramatically across the floor, shifting with subtle movements.
Material Palette
Brushed Concrete: This material feels robust and cool to the touch, developing a subtle patina over time.
Black Granite: Its polished surface is slick and cool, maintaining its deep luster with proper care.
Mirrored Glass: The smooth surface reflects light, showing every fingerprint but remaining clear and unclouded.
