1675 Carla Rdg Living Room — Empty Canvas design direction

Absence Defines. Texture Speaks. Quiet Stays.

Living Room • 1675 Carla Rdg, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Distractions are removed from the space. A blank panel replaces art above the fireplace, matching the uniform, ultra-matte wall finish. Shadowless cove lighting illuminates the perimeter, eliminating other fixtures. Rugs and side tables are gone, clearing central circulation. Austere, sculptural seating provides a point of rest. This design forces reflection on pure texture and volume, making absence the most pronounced presence.
The room forces quiet observation.
Design Philosophy
This space implements Deconstructive Minimalism. Elements are stripped away to highlight foundational forms. It creates a Perceptual Void by removing visual noise. This forces direct engagement with material texture and spatial volume.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first traces the continuous, uniform wall plane. You walk through the unobstructed central area. You settle into the quiet, sculptural seating.
Light Study
Morning light enters diffuse and soft through large windows. It reveals the subtle imperfections of the microcement. Evening brings uniform, shadowless illumination from perimeter cove lighting. This light emphasizes the volume of the room, not specific objects.
Living Vignette
A hand rests on the cool, smooth microcement wall. The only sound is a page turning.
Material Palette
Ultra-matte white microcement: It feels cool and smooth, aging with subtle, natural variations. Limewash paint: It offers a soft, velvety texture, gaining character as it subtly fades. Raw linen: It provides a tactile, earthy feel, softening and developing a slight sheen over time.
Type & Mood
