Heavy textile panels now clad the walls, creating solid form from soft material. Tensioned fabric panels define new alcoves and shift spatial perception. A suspended fabric canopy replaces the chandelier, offering glowing uplighting. The dining table features a textile inlay, paired with new upholstered chairs.
Plush wool rugs define circulation paths and soften underfoot. Acoustic textile panels absorb sound, adding quiet depth to the room. Recessed fabric panels soften arched doorways, offering flexible enclosure. This design redefines how one senses space.
This room uses textiles to redefine how space feels and functions.
Design Philosophy
This design explores the Material Paradox, where soft textiles create unexpected solidity. Contradictory Forms manifest as seemingly rigid fabric panels that remain yielding. The goal is to redefine spatial presence, allowing firm fluidity to shape the room. It creates enclosure without rigid boundaries.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first travels across the thick textile walls, drawn by their unexpected depth. Soft rugs define a clear path through the room, guiding you towards the dining table. Here, you sit surrounded by fluid textile forms, facing the softened archways and view.
Light Study
Morning light filters softly through the arched doorways, highlighting the subtle texture of the fabric panels. In the evening, the suspended fabric canopy glows, diffusing warm light downwards onto the dining surface. Integrated uplighting emphasizes the textile walls, creating a diffused, enveloping ambiance.
Living Vignette
A hand brushes the thick textile wall cladding, feeling the unexpected solidity of the woven fibers. The gentle hum of conversation dampens instantly within the textile-lined room.
Material Palette
Acoustic Textile Panels: These dense panels absorb sound and add a soft visual weight to the walls, maintaining their integrity over time.
Translucent Fabric Canopy: This light fabric diffuses uplighting and retains its ethereal quality, requiring regular dust removal to stay pristine.
Wool and Jute Rug: This natural fiber rug provides soft texture underfoot and wears well with regular vacuuming, developing a subtle patina.
