3110 Benedict Canyon Dr Living Room — Truth & Surface design direction

Raw Surfaces. Polished Forms.

Living Room • 3110 Benedict Canyon Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
The room replaces visual clutter with deliberate material contrasts. A monolithic raw concrete fireplace anchors the space, extending into an accent wall. A live-edge wood slab coffee table introduces natural form. Full-height undyed linen curtains provide soft counterpoints. Polished metal side tables and blackened steel rods create intentional friction. This pairing encourages a closer look at each surface. Hard meets soft, rough meets smooth, revealing inherent material truth.
The room reveals the true character of every material.
Design Philosophy
This design prioritizes the inherent nature of materials. "Material Truth" guides the selection of raw concrete and unvarnished wood. "Layered Contradiction" creates visual tension between these elements. Refined finishes actively highlight the raw surfaces.
Spatial Narrative
The eye immediately settles on the raw concrete fireplace and accent wall. Movement draws you towards the central live-edge wood coffee table. You finally rest on the linen-upholstered seating, grounding your experience.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the arched doorways, emphasizing the varied textures of the concrete. Afternoon sun warms the raw surface of the live-edge wood. Evening illumination provides direct light, revealing the distinct qualities of each material.
Living Vignette
A finger traces the unvarnished grain along the edge of the wood slab. Light catches the subtle weave of the undyed linen curtain as it sways gently.
Material Palette
Live-edge Wood: It feels warm and textured, deepening in color with age. Undyed Linen: It feels soft to the touch, gaining character through gentle creasing.
