Living Room • 3110 Benedict Canyon Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
This room redefines scale. A colossal abstract light sculpture commands the ceiling. A massive, U-shaped sectional sofa creates an intimate zone below. A wall-sized mirror distorts the room's vastness.
Deeply textured linen upholstery softens the expansive forms. A rough concrete plinth grounds the space. Venetian plaster unifies the walls, providing a smooth background. Hand-knotted wool grounds the seating arrangement.
This design makes the grand feel personal.
Design Philosophy
Experiential Design shapes every view here. Elements play with your perception of scale and distance. Grand forms feel close, while personal moments expand outwards. This creates a dynamic sense of discovery within the room.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first catches the monumental light sculpture above. You move towards the deep sectional, drawn into its defined area. Here, the reflective mirror shifts your sense of the room's edges.
Light Study
Morning light floods through arched windows, casting sharp angles on surfaces. By evening, the abstract sculpture becomes a soft, central glow. The aged mirror then reflects interior light, creating depth.
Living Vignette
Multiple guests spread out across the oversized sectional. A single person stretches out, finding personal space within the expansive form.
Material Palette
Textured linen: This heavy fabric feels substantial and gains character over time.
Rough concrete: Its cool, raw surface provides a solid anchor that develops a unique patina with use.
Frosted glass: This material softens light, offering a gentle glow that remains clear and bright.
