Glow Reveals Room's Form

Living Room • 4000 Ballina Dr, Encino, CA 91436
Fixed ceiling lights are gone. Tunable LED strips now wash walls and shelves, adding depth. Backlighting behind panels creates visual layers. Sculptural lamps direct light, shaping distinct pools. Translucent panels diffuse incoming illumination. High-gloss panels reflect shifting light patterns. Deep matte paint on one wall absorbs light, creating strong contrast. A metallic art piece interacts dramatically with light. Sheer, reflective blinds filter and bounce natural light throughout the day.
Light actively sculpts the space, revealing its changing forms.
Design Philosophy
Perceptual Architecture guides how light reshapes the room's perception. Dynamic Lighting allows the space to continually shift. Integrated LED systems and sculptural lamps actively sculpt the environment. Materials are chosen to enhance this constant interplay of illumination.
Spatial Narrative
The chevron ceiling recess draws the eye upward. Integrated lighting highlights the built-in cabinetry. One then settles into the central seating area, defined by the round coffee table.
Light Study
Morning light filters through sheer blinds, bouncing soft reflections onto the ceiling. Tunable LEDs provide crisp, cool light for focused tasks. In the evening, warm backlighting defines architectural panels, while sculptural lamps cast amber pools and sharp shadows.
Living Vignette
A hand traces the illuminated texture of the metallic wall art. The room's programmed lighting scene shifts from a cool white to a warm indigo wash.
Material Palette
Translucent resin: Translucent resin feels smooth and cool, diffusing light evenly and resisting yellowing. Deep matte indigo paint: Deep matte indigo paint feels velvety, absorbing light to create contrast and maintaining its deep color.
