Design Philosophy
This design applies Synesthetic Design principles. It integrates sound, scent, and touch into the physical space. Olfactory Architecture guides the subtle scent integration. Programmed essential oils create an evolving atmosphere. Varied textures and thermal zones complete the sensory experience.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first goes to the grand arched window. Movement leads to the modular seating arrangement. One settles into a zone with varied textures and warmth.
Light Study
Morning light floods the room from the arched window, highlighting wall textures. Evening brings focused light from directional fixtures. These create pools of illumination, emphasizing specific zones.
Living Vignette
A hand slides across the rough limewash wall, then onto cool stone. The scent of cedarwood subtly fills the air.
Material Palette
Hand-knotted wool: It offers acoustic dampening and warmth. Its fibers compact over time, maintaining softness. Unpolished stone: It gives cool, smooth tactile surfaces. It develops a rich character from use and light.
