Walls are painted in distinct, saturated blocks of color. Each hue defines a functional zone. Primary seating is reupholstered in rich emerald green velvet. The arched window frame features gold leafing with sheer saffron drapes.
The fireplace surround is finished in high-gloss black lacquer. Floor areas delineate zones with different finishes. New lighting provides diffused ambient light and highlights features. This creates a structured journey through color.
Distinct colors organize and activate this living space.
Design Philosophy
This design implements Full-wall color drenching to define distinct areas. Color blocking serves as spatial definition, marking functional zones. Tonal rooms create immersive color experiences. Each zone holds a powerful, structured journey through saturated hues.
Spatial Narrative
The eye is first drawn to the deep indigo feature wall, then to the gold-leafed window arch. You walk across the polished dark grey concrete, then onto the plush emerald wool rug. This progression leads you to the central seating area.
Light Study
Morning light filters through sheer saffron drapes, casting a warm, diffused glow across the room. In the evening, recessed spotlights highlight the gold-leafed arch and lacquered fireplace. The new chandelier provides a soft, ambient illumination.
Living Vignette
A book rests open on the emerald velvet, catching the light from the window. Two people converse easily, framed by distinct blocks of color.
Material Palette
Emerald green velvet: This rich fabric feels soft and inviting; it develops a characteristic sheen with use.
Gold leaf: The delicate gold leaf reflects light gently; it gains a subtle patina over many years.
High-gloss black lacquer: This hard, smooth surface creates sharp reflections; it maintains its polished look with minimal care.
