Living Room • 151 E 58th St Unit 38A, New York, NY 10022
A deep, teal sectional sofa grounds the room. It integrates a dark wood bookcase on one end. A vintage leather steamer trunk serves as the coffee table. Its aged brass hardware hints at past travels.
Textured wall finishes suggest a subtle history. A suspended wood and brass display holds collected books and artifacts. Artworks and mementos hang in a salon style. Lighting merges to form a continuous glow.
This room tells a story through every object and surface.
Design Philosophy
This design builds a narrative around a collected life. Objects form a Personal Anthology. This approach integrates past and present items into the space. Furniture functions are blended through Integrated Narratives, making the room a biography of its inhabitants.
Spatial Narrative
The eye is drawn to the expansive city view first. It then moves to the suspended display of books and artifacts. You walk towards the deep sectional sofa, settling into its embrace.
Light Study
Morning light streams in from large windows, illuminating city views. It casts soft, long shadows across the textured walls. Evening light is zoned, creating a merged ambient mood around displayed objects.
Living Vignette
A hand rests on the warm leather of the trunk, tracing a faint scratch. Pages turn quietly in a book pulled from the nearby shelf.
Material Palette
Patinated leather: It feels rich and worn. It deepens in color and develops unique marks with age.
Aged brass: It feels solid and cool. It darkens and shows a subtle sheen over decades.
