The existing island is replaced with a custom design featuring built-in display shelves for personal items. A large, freestanding hutch, crafted from dark, hand-hewn wood, anchors the dining area. Variegated marble countertops and patinated brass hardware complete these new elements.
Multiple flooring transitions delineate distinct zones, with terra cotta tiles marking a specific prep area. Mixed seating styles invite varied use across the reconfigured island and dining table. A hand-knotted wool rug softens the dining space, defining that chapter of the room.

Design Philosophy
This design creates a narrative space. Each object and surface tells a part of the occupant's story. Eutrepismus organizes distinct activity stations within the island. Ordinatio ensures every display niche serves a clear purpose.
Spatial Narrative
The eye lands first on the large, antique storage hutch, a focal point of personal history. Distinct flooring transitions guide movement between kitchen prep and dining zones. One settles into a task-oriented stool at the island or an upholstered chair by the table.
Light Study
Morning light streams in, highlighting the varied textures of the island's display niches. As evening falls, focused lighting illuminates individual collections, casting dramatic shadows. The space transforms from an open vista to an intimate gallery.
Living Vignette
A hand reaches for a well-worn cookbook from the hutch's open shelf. Later, a guest traces the subtle pattern of the new marble countertop while conversing.
Material Palette
