Light Builds Layered Brightness

Bathroom • 16 5th Ave #7, New York, NY 10011
Frosted glass partitions now feature integrated LED strips along all edges. These strips emit light both inward and outward. A continuous, dimmable LED cove lighting system defines the ceiling's perimeter with a soft, ambient glow. Sleek, high-gloss white lacquered vanities feature integrated LED under-cabinet lighting, echoing the ceiling's light. Back-lit, frameless mirrors and a matching art panel create a visual echo of light. Highly polished chrome accents mark entry points and adorn the freestanding tub's base, reflecting surrounding light. A ceiling grid with integrated light panels illuminates specific zones. Smaller, integrated floor uplights replicate these zones of light.
Every surface in this room actively builds brightness.
Design Philosophy
The design ensures continuous illumination through carefully positioned light sources. These sources build upon each other, eliminating all dim corners. Layered Illumination strategically places various light types, creating both depth and uniform brightness. Reflective Geometry uses polished surfaces to bounce and expand light, reinforcing expansive clarity.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye travels along the illuminated edges of the frosted glass partitions. You walk past the twin vanities towards the bright, central freestanding tub. The tub, a focal point of light and form, invites quiet repose.
Light Study
Morning light filters softly through the sheer blinds, filling the room with a gentle, diffused glow. Evening illumination relies on integrated LEDs and back-lit surfaces, creating a consistent, shadowless brightness. The high-gloss ceiling captures and broadcasts this light, brightening the entire space uniformly.
Living Vignette
Water streams into the freestanding tub, catching the light from overhead panels. A hand reaches for a polished chrome faucet, its surface cool and smooth.
