16 5th Ave #7 Bedroom — Pure Form design direction

Pure Form Bedroom: Distilled Calm

Bedroom • 16 5th Ave #7, New York, NY 10011
All existing decorative items are removed. Most wall art is gone. Window treatments simplify to stark blinds or bare glass. Current lighting is replaced with concealed sources. This clears the visual field. The room celebrates inherent material qualities. A quiet potency comes from this absence of excess. Geometry emerges with clarity. The architectural volume becomes its own decoration.
The room's story is simply its existence.
Design Philosophy
This design applies Essentialism. It uses Subtractive Design principles. All non-essential elements are removed. The room focuses on clarity and core function. What remains is honest and purposeful.
Spatial Narrative
The eye travels directly to the expansive windows. Movement through the space is unhindered. One settles onto the bed, facing the cityscape view.
Light Study
Morning light streams from the large windows, washing the matte walls. Evening light from concealed LEDs defines planes softly. Ambient glow fills the room evenly.
Living Vignette
You lie on the bed, book open. Your gaze drifts to the distant city lights.
Material Palette
Matte white wall: Its flat finish absorbs ambient light. The surface reveals subtle texture over time. Light wood furniture: The smooth grain offers natural warmth. It develops a gentle patina with age. Undyed wool rug: The flat weave feels soft underfoot. It resists compression and maintains its form.
Type & Mood
