Living Room • 252 7th Ave Unit 10P, New York, NY 10001
The dining area transforms into a reading lounge. Deep armchairs and a low coffee table define the space. The former living area becomes a work hub with a large communal table. Industrial mesh partitions create subtle boundaries. A sculptural element subtly redirects paths.
Raw concrete forms accent walls. Polished stainless steel chairs meet velvet upholstery. Textured tile contrasts warm wood floors. Delicate fabrics create large acoustical screens. An abstract geometric rug anchors the central zone.
Functions are reassigned, comfort is redefined.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Deconstructive Arrangement to challenge typical room functions. It employs Contextual Flip, reassigning common purposes to unexpected zones. Industrial materials appear decoratively, while delicate textiles gain robust applications. This design reveals unexpected comfort and dynamic visual interplay.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first meets the large communal work table. A sculptural element subtly redirects your path around it. You finally settle into the deep armchair within the reading lounge.
Light Study
Morning light floods the tall windows from the east, illuminating surfaces crisply. Evening brings dramatic uplighting from floor lamps, casting soft shadows on the ceiling. Pendants at eye level provide task-specific illumination, cutting through the ambient glow.
Living Vignette
A reader leans back in a deep armchair, the heavy book resting open on their lap. Nearby, a colleague types intently at the industrial work table.
