The wall opposite the window is stripped bare, exposing its raw concrete. This raw surface grounds the room, offering an immediate tactile contrast. A translucent fluted glass screen introduces a delicate counterpoint near the door.
The existing daybed transforms into a low platform bench with undyed linen cushions. An oval dining table now features a rough timber base and a polished stone top. Adjustable spotlights enhance surface textures throughout the space.
This room makes materials speak to each other.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Tactile Exploration to reveal material properties. Disparate elements connect, inviting physical interaction. Unveiling Properties shows each material's inherent character. The room encourages both intellectual and sensory investigation.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye is drawn immediately to the exposed, textured concrete wall. It anchors the space, guiding your gaze to the delicate fluted glass screen. You move towards the low platform bench before settling at the striking dining table.
Light Study
Morning light floods through the large window, softly illuminating the linen daybed cushions. It grazes the concrete wall, highlighting its imperfections. Evening spotlights define the wall's texture, while a diffused glow emanates from behind the partition.
Living Vignette
Hands trace the cool, polished dining table surface. The heavy rough-sawn timber base presses firmly against the dark wood floor.
