530 Park Ave Unit 17A Bathroom — Stripped Bare design direction

Stripped Concrete. Raw, Focused Space.

Bathroom • 530 Park Ave Unit 17A, New York, NY 10065
All beige tiles are gone. Raw, sealed concrete walls create a visceral backdrop. The floor is polished concrete. A massive floating concrete trough sink spans the wall. A walk-in shower has a sloped concrete floor and a single glass panel. Matte black industrial fixtures contrast sharply with raw surfaces. Concealed linear LED lighting emphasizes shadows. This intentional lack of distraction forces internal focus. Every interaction becomes intensely personal.
This room strips away distraction to reveal essential form.
Design Philosophy
This design applies Brutalism by celebrating exposed concrete surfaces. It uses Deconstructivism to strip away ornamentation. The intention is to remove visual clutter. This forces a confrontational honesty in the space.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye goes first to the floating concrete trough sink. You walk across the continuous polished concrete floor. The frameless shower glass opens the entire space.
Light Study
Natural morning light from the window illuminates raw surfaces. It softens the concrete textures. Evening light from concealed linear LEDs casts dramatic shadows, defining architectural forms sharply.
Living Vignette
Water splashes against the concrete trough sink. The matte black faucet feels cool under your hand.
Material Palette
Exposed, sealed concrete: It feels cool and solid. It gains character through minor surface variations over time. Polished concrete: It offers a smooth, dense surface. It resists wear while developing a subtle patina. Matte black stainless steel: It provides a tactile, non-reflective finish. It maintains its deep tone with minimal upkeep.
