Living Room • 530 Park Ave Unit 17A, New York, NY 10065
The main sofa wall adopts a deep teal, creating a compressed, intimate backdrop. A deeper, lower-profile sofa replaces the existing sectional. This new arrangement, paired with a dark, plush rug, defines a room-within-a-room for focused comfort.
In contrast, the dining area gains an oversized, sculptural pendant light. This visually lowers the ceiling while emphasizing the table. A tall console and sheer drapery subtly narrow the path between these distinct zones.
The room defines distinct zones of intimacy and openness.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Spatial Layering to define contrasting experiences within one room. Perceptual Manipulation creates distinct zones of intimacy and openness. A bold accent wall compresses the living area. An oversized pendant visually lowers the dining ceiling.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye is drawn first to the bold, dark accent wall in the living zone. You move toward the oversized pendant, which anchors the dining space. Finally, you settle into the deep, low sofa.
Light Study
Morning light streams in, brightening the open dining area and highlighting the pendant's form. By evening, the dark living wall absorbs light, creating deep shadows. The oversized pendant casts a focused glow over the dining table.
Living Vignette
The deep sofa provides a contained space for quiet conversation. Across the room, the large pendant brightens a shared meal.
