Intense spotlights cast deep, accusatory shadows. Circulation paths force occupants through zones of blinding light and confronting dimness. This design challenges traditional comfort. It demands active engagement with every surface.
The space deliberately denies visual rest.
Design Philosophy
The design employs High Contrast Architecture to define space through extreme light and shadow. Interrogative Illumination actively questions perceptions of comfort and visibility. It forces a conscious engagement with the environment. Every surface and shadow demands reflection on presence.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first registers the jarring light from chrome ceilings. Occupants move from an overlit entrance into selectively harsh main areas. Seating arrangements force users either into intense glare or deep shadow.
Light Study
Morning light, unfiltered by sheer blinds, casts sharp, elongated shadows across floors. Intense glares from chrome surfaces dominate daytime visibility. Evening illumination relies solely on targeted spotlights, creating isolated pools of harsh light and vast, confronting darkness.
Living Vignette
An occupant shifts position, moving a hand from shadow into a sharp spotlight beam. The sudden brightness forces an immediate awareness of their own hand.
Material Palette
Polished Chrome: Feels cool and smooth, retains sharp reflectivity with regular cleaning.
High-Gloss Black Lacquer: Feels slick and hard, shows fingerprints but maintains its deep, light-absorbing finish.
Dark Grey Velvet: Feels soft and dense, develops a subtle nap over time, absorbing light deeply.
