A custom linen canopy fully encloses the bed, forming a distinct sleep zone. Translucent fabric panels now delineate specific seating and dressing areas by the windows. All walls are newly upholstered in a subtly textured, soft grey fabric.
Integrated woven screens control light and privacy at the windows. A large, hand-braided jute rug covers the floor. Each fabric layer clearly defines its purpose, creating a coherent, enveloping environment.
Each material layer provides distinct warmth and clear division.
Design Philosophy
This design applies Functional Poetics to create purposeful divisions within the room. Material Storytelling is evident in each chosen textile. Every fabric layer serves a clear function, from privacy to definition. The result is an enveloping environment built on tactile warmth and visual clarity.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first registers the centrally enclosed bed, a private structure. You walk across the textured jute, moving towards the window-framed seating areas. Translucent fabric panels delineate these zones for quiet activity.
Light Study
Morning light filters gently through woven hemp screens, casting diffused patterns on the jute rug. Translucent panels soften this light further into defined seating zones. At dusk, the enclosed bed canopy holds interior light within its private space.
Living Vignette
A hand pulls the sheer dividing panel, softly delineating the window seat. The panel then drifts back, catching a light breeze.
Material Palette
Heavy-gauge linen: This natural linen offers substantial drape, softening its texture with time.
Wool-blend fabric: Its soft texture cushions the walls and provides a subtle visual warmth.
Hand-braided jute: The rug’s robust texture grounds the room and softens underfoot over years.
