A sheer fabric canopy now drapes above the tub, creating an intimate bathing zone. Large upholstered panels cover the vanity wall, adding texture and warmth. A movable woven screen divides the tub and vanity areas.
A patterned runner rug guides movement from the entry. Fabric storage pockets soften vanity storage. New sconces replace linear lights, accentuating fabric textures. A high-pile wool rug grounds the tub area.
Textile layers transform this linear bathroom into an intimate, acoustically soft room.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Woven Layers to soften a previously linear bathroom. Soft-Hard Contrast is applied through fabric canopies and upholstered panels against stone. Articulated Zoning defines distinct areas within the open plan. Each textile serves a clear purpose in shaping the room's feel.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first finds the draped canopy above the tub, a focal point. A woven runner guides you towards the vanity, past the sliding screen. This screen allows the tub zone to become a secluded space.
Light Study
Morning light filters softly through the sheer canopy, creating a gentle glow around the tub. In the evening, diffuse sconces cast warm pools of light, emphasizing the wall panel textures. These lights soften the room's hard surfaces.
Living Vignette
The warm, high-pile rug feels plush underfoot after a bath. Soft light from the sconces reflects off the muted rose panels.
Material Palette
Sheer linen: It feels light and transparent, softening light as it filters through.
Bouclé fabric: This textured fabric feels soft and inviting, muffling sound over time.
Handwoven abaca: Its natural fibers feel sturdy and textured, gaining character with age.
