City Living, Natural Flow, Deep Breath

Living Room • 930 Fifth Ave Unit 11A, New York, NY 10021
The existing bench is replaced by a full-width custom planter box. This blurs the window sill with ferns and mosses. Translucent screens with moss panels layer green inside the window frame. Circadian lighting shifts color throughout the day, mirroring natural light. A live-edge wood slab table anchors the space. An irregularly shaped wool rug defines the seating area. Seating repositions into a softer, curvilinear grouping. Raw, unpolished materials provide a tactile experience.
This room builds a living connection between urban space and natural growth.
Design Philosophy
This design creates an intensely connected indoor environment. It applies **Layered Ecologies** to integrate living elements at the window line. **Organic Flow** guides soft circulation paths and curvilinear seating. Raw materials and shifting light build vitality.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye is drawn immediately to the living screens and cityscape view. You walk on the soft, irregularly shaped rug. You settle into curved seating, facing outward and toward conversation.
Light Study
Morning light filters softly through living screens, casting shifting green patterns. By evening, tunable LEDs mimic sunset hues, warming the interior. Integrated grow lights support plant life at all hours.
Living Vignette
The scent of damp earth rises from the custom planter as you reach for your book. Outside, city lights speckle the darkening skyline.
Material Palette
Live-edge walnut: It feels smooth yet textured, gaining depth and character with time. Undyed wool: It feels soft and grounding underfoot, resisting dirt and retaining its natural luster. Raw stone: It feels cool and solid, developing a subtle patina over years of use.
