930 Fifth Ave Unit 11A Living Room — Numbered Forms design direction

Defined Zones. Sequential Experience. Structured Living.

Living Room • 930 Fifth Ave Unit 11A, New York, NY 10021
Three distinct zones now define the room. A large geometric artwork anchors the main lounge wall. Three irregular mirrors segment the space, guiding the eye. An organic rug grounds the primary seating, establishing asymmetric balance. Dark wood veneer frames the main lounge. Light limestone-look tile covers the floor, creating a continuous base. Bronze and matte black metals accent lighting and furniture. Textured linen and smooth leather add surface variation.
This room presents a structured experience through defined zones.
Design Philosophy
The design employs Eutrepismus to present elements sequentially, each with purpose. Asymmetric balance structures the visual weight, avoiding perfect symmetry. Three distinct zones are defined, each contributing to a larger, unconventional whole. A tiered material hierarchy reinforces these individual statements.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first finds the large geometric artwork on the main wall. You walk through the open lounge area, moving towards the window's observation point. You then settle into the main seating, surrounded by varied reflections.
Light Study
Morning light streams through large windows, illuminating the park vista. Evening light focuses on specific zones using track and pendant fixtures. The functional floor lamp provides task illumination for the lounge area.
Living Vignette
A visitor traces the irregular edge of the large rug with their foot. They then tilt their head, catching their reflection in a small, high-mounted mirror.
Material Palette
Dark Wood Veneer: Feels smooth and cool, deepening in color over time. Limestone-look Porcelain Tile: Feels cool and smooth, maintaining its finish indefinitely. Textured Linen: Feels soft and substantial, gaining character with use.
