Design Philosophy
This design balances openness with defined purpose. Zoned Living creates distinct areas for varied activities. Material Transparency maintains visual flow between spaces. It supports both social connection and personal contemplation.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first lands on the slatted timber structure. You walk towards this defined reading zone. Here you settle into a low lounge chair.
Light Study
Morning light floods in from the garden, illuminating the open living area. It filters softly through the slatted screen in the reading zone. Evening brings focused light within the nook, leaving the main space ambient.
Living Vignette
The rustle of a turning page fills the timber nook. Outside, quiet conversation flows without interruption.
Material Palette
Slatted Timber: Light oak timber feels smooth and warm to the touch. It deepens its natural grain over decades. Matte Finish Paint: Matte paint absorbs light, creating a soft, non-reflective wall surface. It hides minor imperfections well over time. Deep Ochre Velvet: Velvet feels soft and rich, adding a luxurious texture to the room. It develops a subtle sheen with age and use.
