Light Sculpts Form, Defines Space

Bathroom • Crescent Lane, Clapham, London, UK
A focused column of high-intensity light defines the shower. Adjustable LED strips illuminate the vanity, offering varied moods. The window acts as an interactive light panel. Hidden channels emit ambient light from architectural seams and floor. The toilet alcove wall dematerializes through soft backlighting. Light sculpts every volume, informing perception. This room engages you in a constant dialogue with illumination itself.
Light defines every boundary and surface in this room.
Design Philosophy
This design uses light as its core material. Volumetric lighting sculpts space without physical barriers. Dematerialization through light dissolves surfaces, creating depth. Every element responds to how light informs perception.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye goes first to the dramatic column of light defining the shower space. You approach the floating vanity, illuminated by its targeted strips. The room guides your movement through variations in light intensity.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the smart glass window, filling the room with natural bounce. In the evening, the window backlights, while hidden channels emit a soft, pervasive glow. Focused vanity LEDs and the shower column of light provide task illumination as needed.
Living Vignette
You touch the smart glass, instantly shifting the window from clear to opaque. The vanity lights adjust, softening the room for a quiet evening routine.
