Design Philosophy
This design uses eclectic curation to build a distinct space. It integrates individual elements with their own history. Every object contributes to personal storytelling. The room reflects a life collected through experience.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first finds the collection of varied dining chairs. From there, it moves to the credenza, drawn by the displayed objects. Paths encourage slow movement, inviting discovery of each unique grouping.
Light Study
Morning light streams in directly through the large windows, illuminating the table with clear brightness. Evening brings a warm glow from multiple independent sources, highlighting specific objects and creating intimate pockets. The wall sconce adds a focused, ambient layer.
Living Vignette
A hand traces the distinct pattern on a hand-dyed placemat. Across the room, a guest leans in to examine an antique compass displayed on the credenza.
Material Palette
Mixed Woods: These hard surfaces show warmth, gaining character from daily use and subtle scratching.
Hand-dyed Linen: This fabric feels soft and drapes easily, softening with washing and developing gentle wrinkles.
Varied Metals: These materials offer solid weight and cool surfaces, developing a patina or maintaining their sheen over time.
