Dining Room • Rutland Gate, Knightsbridge, London, UK
The wall opposite the window, the ceiling, and the upper right wall are drenched in a vibrant green. A high-gloss finish makes this color actively mirror light and movement. Concealed LED cove lighting suffuses the space, making the intense hue feel like a light source. This creates an immersive, U-shaped chromatic volume.
A dark charcoal area rug grounds the dining zone underfoot. Existing dining chairs are reupholstered in matching dark charcoal fabric. These dark elements support the visual drama of the surrounding color.
The room draws you into an enveloping field of color.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Color-Field Immersion to saturate the room. Full-wall and ceiling green paint creates a U-shaped chromatic volume. Sculptural Hue applies a high-gloss finish, making the color an active element. A dark rug and upholstery ground this vibrant overhead color.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye immediately goes to the immersive green planes wrapping the room. You walk towards the dark rug, defining the dining area. You sit at the table, enveloped by the intense, active color.
Light Study
Morning light from the window illuminates the high-gloss green, bouncing reflections across the room. Evening light comes from integrated LED cove strips, providing a uniform, intense green wash. The color itself becomes the room's light source.
Living Vignette
Sunlight catches the green ceiling, casting a shifting emerald sheen onto the table's surface. A fork glints, briefly appearing green as it moves through the intense reflections.
