Scale Shifts, Space Redefined

Living Room • 10 5th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118
A colossal chandelier anchors the living area. It spans a significant portion of the ceiling. A wall-sized mirror covers one main wall, reflecting the entire room. An enormous timber slab replaces the coffee table, grounding the sprawling seating. Tiny accent chairs sit opposite the deep sectional. They offer minimal structure. A small, decorative hand mirror rests on a nearby pedestal. Pinprick LEDs offer subtle ambient light, contrasting the main fixture's grandeur.
The room forces you to re-evaluate scale and proportion.
Design Philosophy
This room redefines spatial perception. It uses Extreme Juxtaposition to create visual tension. Monumental objects sit alongside delicate details. Proportion Play disorients the viewer's expectation.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye is drawn immediately to the colossal chandelier. You navigate around the massive timber coffee table. The oversized sectional invites sprawling relaxation.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the glass door, reflecting off the mirrored wall. It amplifies the room's grand scale. Evening brings focused pinprick LEDs and the chandelier's dramatic glow, shifting the room's mood.
Living Vignette
A guest tries to find their reflection in the small hand mirror. They then glance at their full self in the wall-sized mirror behind them.
