10 5th Ave Dining Room — Raw & Polished design direction

Raw Concrete Meets Polished Steel

Dining Room • 10 5th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118
The main dining wall now features a raw concrete finish. Polished black steel panels flank specific artworks. A live-edge walnut table with a blackened steel base anchors the space. This material tension grounds the room. Dining chairs have dark wood frames and iridescent performance fabric. A copper piping pendant with clear glass shades provides light. Sandblasted branches fill polished chrome vases. An unfinished timber frame surrounds an antiqued mirror. Each surface defines its neighbor.
This room defines materials through direct opposition.
Design Philosophy
This design builds on Textural Dialogue. Materials like raw concrete and polished steel directly oppose each other. Juxtaposed Realities define the space. The inherent truth of each material grounds the room, while their contrast creates visual electricity.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye goes directly to the raw concrete main wall. The live-edge walnut table anchors the center. From the dining chairs, the material layers unfold.
Light Study
Morning light floods the room, highlighting concrete and polished steel. Evening light from the copper pendant casts warm pools. This emphasizes wood grain and softens reflective surfaces.
Living Vignette
A hand traces the raw edge of the walnut table. The glass shades of the pendant reflect the room's contrasting surfaces.
