Dining Room • 1967 Green St, San Francisco, CA 94123
Archways become compressed concrete tunnels. This creates an immediate, confined entry experience. Raw concrete walls demand attention upon passing through.
The space then expands into a generous dining area. A deep slate-grey plaster wall replaces the former accent color. A monumental, polished black stone table dominates the center. Oversized woven pendants cast soft light from above, while brutalist-inspired chairs with soft leather complete the setting.

Design Philosophy
This design employs Sensory Provocation. Entry tunnels compress the user’s experience. Exiting these tunnels reveals an expansive dining room, forcing an immediate spatial shift. Material Dialogue defines the space, juxtaposing rough concrete with polished stone surfaces. Hard lines soften with organic woven textiles and soft leather, creating a heightened sensory awareness.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first narrows into the low, rough concrete tunnel entrance. You walk through this compressed space, which then dramatically opens into the expansive dining room. Your gaze lands on the monumental black stone table, inviting you to take a brutalist-inspired seat.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the French doors, creating sharp reflections off the polished stone table. It highlights the texture of the deep plaster wall. Evening light from the low-hanging pendants casts a soft, diffuse glow across the table, softening the room's edges.
Living Vignette
A guest reaches across the black stone table for a carafe, their hand's reflection distinct. The oversized woven pendants emit a warm, focused light on their movement.
Material Palette
Raw concrete: It feels rough and cool to the touch. It develops a unique, textured patina over time.
Polished black stone: It feels smooth and cold. It maintains a high sheen and resists wear for decades.
Deep matte plaster: It feels velvety and soft. It maintains its flat finish, adding depth and quiet luxury.
Woven natural textiles: They feel soft and textured. They soften further and slightly loosen their weave with age.
Natural leather: It feels supple and warm. It gains character and a rich patina as it ages.
