Dining Room • 2070 Bush St, San Francisco, CA 94115
Walls are a muted off-white. A custom mural introduces an organic flowing line. This line reappears on dining chair backrests. Reclaimed timber forms the table and sideboard.
Hand-blocked ikat drapes adorn windows. This pattern is referenced on a small cushion. Ceramic vessels display their earthy character. Soft, diffused light fills the space.
This room connects past stories with present moments.
Design Philosophy
The design builds on personal curation. Each object adds to the room's unique narrative. Storytelling through form connects every element. Recurring motifs and chosen materials link the entire space.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first moves to the wall mural's flowing line. It then follows this line to the dining chairs. One settles at the timber table, surrounded by personal objects.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the ikat drapes, casting subtle patterns. Evening brings diffused illumination from frosted glass fixtures. This light reflects gently off polished surfaces, creating a warm glow.
Living Vignette
A hand rests on the cool, aged timber of the sideboard. Fingers trace the etched pattern on a ceramic bowl displayed there.
Material Palette
Reclaimed Timber: It feels solid and textured, showing its age and character through visible imperfections.
Hand-blocked Ikat Linen: It feels soft and substantial, gaining a gentle drape with time and use.
Hand-thrown Ceramics: They feel earthy and unique, retaining their specific forms over years.
