Light Redefines Kitchen Surfaces

Kitchen • 2070 Bush St, San Francisco, CA 94115
The kitchen walls and ceiling now wear a luminous pale cream. This new surface diffuses natural and artificial light. Cabinets are refinished in a matte medium gray. Frosted glass panels soften interior cabinet illumination. Polished dark slate green quartz tops counters and backsplash. This material reflects light deeply across the room. Large format light gray porcelain tiles cover the floor. Integrated LED systems provide targeted and ambient illumination.
Light actively sculpts this kitchen space.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Layered Illumination to sculpt the kitchen space. Integrated LED systems provide both task and ambient light. Reflective Planes broaden the room's perceived size. Polished surfaces actively engage with every light source.
Spatial Narrative
The eye immediately sees the expansive, reflective floor. It then travels to the luminous pale cream walls. Dark quartz counters draw focus across the room, defining the workspace.
Light Study
Morning light floods through French doors, bouncing off the polished floor tiles. The diffused pale cream walls soften direct light throughout the day. Evening brings warm cove lighting, creating a defined glow around the room's perimeter.
Living Vignette
A knife clinks softly against the polished quartz countertop. Sunlight streams across the prepared meal, highlighting its texture.
