Living Room • 2070 Bush St, San Francisco, CA 94115
A monumental light sculpture now dominates the ceiling. Its scale feels almost too large for the room. A single, tiny armchair sits centrally, challenging the vastness. Small artworks vanished, replaced by one immense painting.
An irregularly shaped colossal mirror expands one wall. The undyed wool rug shifts off-center, adding subtle tension. Every element forces a re-evaluation of expected dimensions.
This room actively challenges the way you see size.
Design Philosophy
This design actively employs Juxtaposed Dimensions. It creates Deliberate Imbalance with oversized and undersized elements. The goal is a constant Perceptual Shift for the occupant. This space rejects traditional symmetry for active visual discovery.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye immediately fixes on the colossal light sculpture. It pulls focus upward. Then, the small chair demands a second look. The oversized mirror expands the perceived volume of the room.
Light Study
Morning light enters softly, diffusing across plaster walls. It highlights the vast room proportions. Evening light from the sculptural fixture casts dramatic shadows. It emphasizes specific objects and forms.
Living Vignette
Someone sits in the tiny chair. They scan the enormous painting opposite. The space feels both intimate and vast.
