Living Room • 2070 Bush St, San Francisco, CA 94115
The room's character shifts. Light-reflective and light-absorbing surfaces now define all planes. Heavy window treatments are replaced by sheer layers. A new system delivers multi-source illumination.
The grand piano now reflects strategic lighting. Seating reconfigures to flow with distinct illuminated zones. Every object receives its own moment, preventing visual monotony.
Light actively composes the entire space.
Design Philosophy
Layered Illumination uses varied light sources to sculpt the space. Dynamic Zones define distinct areas through light, guiding movement and focus. This approach highlights unique forms and textures. It ensures every surface and object holds attention.
Spatial Narrative
The eye is drawn immediately to the illuminated grand piano. Linear grazing lights lead the gaze along the main walls. You move naturally from the bright entry to a defined central seating area.
Light Study
Morning light filters softly through sheer drapes, creating diffuse illumination. Evening spotlights and path lighting emphasize specific objects and pathways. The multi-directional fixture offers focused task light or broad ambient glow.
Living Vignette
Fingers move across piano keys, bathed in a precise spotlight. The sheet music catches a soft upward glow from the linear wall lights.
Material Palette
Matte white paint: The surface feels smooth and reflects light evenly without glare.
Sheer drapery: This fabric feels delicate and filters harsh daylight to a soft glow.
Brushed brass: The finish feels warm to the touch and develops a subtle, rich patina over time.
