Sensory Almanac Room Unfolds

Office • 2070 Bush St, San Francisco, CA 94115
One wall now features thick, natural cork panels. It dampens sound and releases an earthy scent. Cool concrete tiles greet you at the entrance. These transition to warm, deep-pile wool carpet in the main area. A hidden diffuser releases specific scents as you move. A quiet water feature adds a soft trickle. Layered lighting shifts from focused task to a soft glow. This room guides your senses deliberately.
This room actively engages every sense.
Design Philosophy
This design creates distinct sensory zones. It uses Olfactory Zoning for specific aromas. Haptic Storytelling guides tactile experiences. Each element forms a cohesive narrative of comfort and stimulation.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first lands on the textured cork wall. You walk across cool concrete, then onto warm wool carpet. You settle into the central work area for comfort and focus.
Light Study
Morning light streams through the window, offering cool brightness. Simulated "golden hour" light warms this area later. Evening brings a soft, dimmable ambient glow around the perimeter.
Living Vignette
The citrus scent activates as you approach the desk. Your fingers trace the cool stone of the water feature.
Material Palette
Polished concrete tiles: These feel cool and firm underfoot. They develop a subtle sheen over time. Deep-pile wool carpet: This feels soft and offers warmth. It withstands wear, retaining its deep texture.
