Living Wall Invites Natural Connection.

Kitchen • 2196 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94115
A floor-to-ceiling living wall defines one entire side of the room. It brings diverse native plants indoors. Woven bamboo panels soften the coffered ceiling recesses, forming a light canopy above. Structured furniture is replaced by deeply organic, rounded seating modules. These forms mimic natural rock formations. Irregularly shaped sisal and jute rugs layer the parquet floor, creating natural clearings.
The room provides a living connection to the natural world.
Design Philosophy
This design applies Regenerative Design principles. It restores nature within the living space. Fractal Forms inform the organic shapes and varied textures. The room mirrors natural patterns and systems.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first lands on the expansive living wall. You move through irregular rug clearings on the floor. You then settle into the rounded, organic seating forms.
Light Study
Morning light streams into the space, highlighting the living wall's texture. Evening light uses integrated LEDs to cast dappled patterns across the room. These mimic sun filtering through a natural canopy.
Living Vignette
The air carries a subtle scent of damp earth and growing things. A hand runs across the cool, firm leaves of a plant on the wall.
Material Palette
Live Plants: They create a breathing, verdant surface. They change with the seasons and grow over time. Textured Linen: It feels soft and natural to the touch. It develops a subtle drape with use. Sisal and Jute: These fibers offer a coarse, grounding texture. They naturally lighten and soften over time.
