Master Bedroom • 2196 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94115
A deep archway frames the entry. This portal creates momentary compression. The room then expands into a wide central area. A large, low-slung sofa and expansive rug define this welcoming zone.
Strategic lighting casts soft pools in corners. Broad washes illuminate the main gathering space. Textured wall panels add a cool tone to one section. A reflective console extends the perceived wall length.
This room guides perception of space.
Design Philosophy
This design uses Experiential Flow to guide movement. A deep archway compresses entry, then releases into an open space. Dynamic Scale juxtaposes grand and intimate zones. Low-slung furniture defines a wide central area, while tall elements draw the eye.
Spatial Narrative
The eye first registers the deep archway. This draws attention beyond. You then move into the wide central zone. Here, the low-slung sofa invites you to sit.
Light Study
Morning light filters broadly into the central area. Even illumination falls across the wide rug. Evening sconces create intimate pools of light in corners.
Living Vignette
Someone leans back on the deep sofa, book open. A gentle light from a nearby floor lamp illuminates the page.
