Living Room Alt Angle 2 • 2535 Vallejo St, San Francisco, CA 94123
Existing formal elements now meet natural wear. Unlacquered brass sconces will visibly age, developing a deep patina. A hand-knotted wool rug showcases natural fibers and inherent variations. Raw timber forms a new mantelpiece, revealing its grain and imperfections. Seating elements gain vegetable-tanned saddle leather upholstery. This leather softens and darkens over time.
Limewash finish on walls creates a breathable, textured surface. It mottles and changes gracefully. Each material openly displays its own narrative of time. This creates a deeply personal and evolving aesthetic.
This room gathers stories on its surfaces.
Design Philosophy
This design embraces Material Honesty, allowing inherent qualities to show. Surfaces openly display the passage of time and the hand of their making. Temporal Design celebrates the narrative that develops on these materials. The room evolves, building a deeply personal aesthetic.
Spatial Narrative
Your eye first lands on the new raw timber mantelpiece. You walk across the soft, undyed wool rug towards the deep leather armchairs. Here, you settle, grounded by the aged materials around you.
Light Study
Morning light streams in, highlighting the subtle mottling of the limewash walls. In the evening, sconces cast warm pools of light, deepening shadows on the timber and leather. The brass fixtures softly reflect this light, emphasizing their developing patina.
Living Vignette
Your hand traces the developing patina on the unlacquered brass sconce as you switch it on. The scent of aged leather and natural wool fills the air.
Material Palette
Hand-knotted wool: Its undyed fibers feel soft and breathable, gently showing wear and variations over time.
